What is Mental Health First Aid?
"Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis.
Course participants will learn how to recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis and encourage that person to:

Talk about declines in their mental well-being

Discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being

Reach out to these support
-
Assist in a mental health or substance use crisis

Use MHFA actions to maintain one’s own mental well-being".

Basic
MHFA Basic

A 12 hour course.

Delivered in person over two full days.

We recommend MHFA Basic in workplaces particularly for managers, leaders, shop stewards, occupational health & safety committee members and workplace wellness teams.
Virtual
MHFA Standard (Virtual)

A 9 hour course.

2 hours (self paced) online.

7 hours with facilitator virtually delivered via Zoom.

Can be delivered in 1 full day or 2 half days.

Maximum 15 participants.

Certificate received.

This is LIVE online training.

There are no recordings and participants must be present for the full virtual session with facilitator in order to receive a certificate.
Face to Face
MHFA Standard (Face to Face)

ABOUT ALISON
Alison Butler is a certified Mental Health First Aid course instructor through the Mental Health Commission of Canada. She has been speaking and providing training to workplaces for 17 years and is passionate about starting conversations and creating change.
Alison also speaks about her own mental health experiences as a highly engaged employee in the workplace. She believes that the more conversations we can have around mental health, the more we can understand and support each other.
