The Mental Health Continuum

Updated: 7 days ago

Life isn't lived in a straight line.

It's filled with ups and downs, good days an bad days.

For some of us, the ups and downs are like rolling hills.

For others, it's like a rollercoaster that doesn't seem to ever end.

At any time, you will find yourself somewhere along this continuum.

(I made this version, my version in my brand colours to go in a presentation, you can see a more detailed version here).

Are you aware of these signs?

We can move either way along the continuum but the longer we stay in an injured or ill zone, the more severe our signs/symptoms and the more likely signs are to persist or become disorders requiring medical care.

The Mental Health Commission of Canada has a Continuum self-check where you can do a quick self-assessment to see how you're feeling.

I acknowledge the land where I live and work, the island of Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland), as the ancestral homeland and traditional territory

of the Beothuk people, whose culture has now been erased forever. and the Mi'kmaq people.
