5 Reasons Why Making Time For Yourself Feels Hard

Updated: Jul 16

Does making time for yourself feel impossible with all of life's demands?

With so much focus right now on stress management and preventing burnout most of us WANT to focus on our wellness, but why does that feel SO hard?

You’re not alone!

Here 5 reasons why making time for yourself feels hard right now with a quick solution for counteracting each of them!

1. You Feel Guilty

If you feel guilty or selfish for making time to do the things that YOU love because you have others to care for, you are not alone. Know this. You cannot pour from an empty cup.

When you are a great version of yourself you have MORE to give to others. You HAVE to make time for yourself to ensure you are well enough to care for the people around you.

2. You Are Letting The "Should Do" List Come First

We often prioritize EVERYTHING, even the things that aren't really that urgent. If you are treating everything in your days like a red hot, five alarm fire then the "shoulds" are probably going to come first before the "you time". Make your self-care an essential in your days (the Burnout To Boundaries™ program can help) and keep the focus on your essentials instead of your "shoulds".

3. You're Last On The Priority List

It might seem counter-intuitive but you actually need to put yourself first. Feel guilty about that? See #1. Making time for yourself will seem a LOT easier when it's higher on your priority list. See #2.

4. You Are Tired

When you are physically and mentally exhausted it will feel almost impossible to make time for yourself or do the things you want to do. Do you need to prioritize rest as part of your self care?

5, "I'll Get To That Tomorrow" Is Winning

When you put yourself low on your priority list, it becomes a thing that you will never get to. See #2!
